[Product Review] Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion in Original

Description from URBANDECAY.COM: This miracle eyeshadow primer is unmatched by any other in the beauty industry! The genie in this bottle fulfills three wishes: eyeshadow that lasts, more vibrant and lasting color, and absolutely NO creasing. Apply Primer Potion to lids before shadow application. It dries down almost instantly (and invisibly), creating smooth lids that are super powered eyeshadow magnets. The formula is full of silicone, which you beauty mavens know makes for a smooth and silky application. Packaged in a pretty genie bottle, our Potion applies with a magic wand and flocked applicator.
Tips: A little goes a long way! Apply a thin coat and let dry, then apply Eyeshadow as you normally would. Then DARE it to crease. (Double-dog dare it, even!)

My Opinion/Review: Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion is the most used and talked about eyeshadow primer, since I think the YouTube/Blogger beauty community has grown. I could be wrong, but that’s pretty much when I’ve seen it blow up.
Appearance / Packaging?
I love the packaging it’s really unique, the curve of the bottle really adds to the packaging, but it’s the downfall to this product. Because of the curves there is some of the product left that can not be reached with the applicator; fortunately Urban Decay changed the wand where it has a slant to it so it can get a hold of the product (I’ll get more into it here in a second).
I also the love the color and design of the packaging is fun yet it has a sleek look to it.
Applicator?
So, like I said earlier, Urban Decay changed the applicator/wand. I don’t have a picture for what it use to look like, but it’s was exactly like a doe foot applicator, you typically see with lip-glosses. Now the applicator looks like it’s slanted at an 80° angle. It definitely gets more of the product where it curves at.
If some of you remember how it use to be with the packaging, you remember having to cut it open to get the rest of the product out, and transferring to a jar, where it will typically dried out. Hopefully how the wand is, we won’t have to do that anymore. So far I haven’t heard any complaints for it, but when I can’t seem to get any more out, I will cut it to see how much product it left.
Application / Blendability?
The formula of this product is a light and has a nice creamy consistency, which applies and blends out so smoothly on the lids. But so you know when your primer is getting dry, it gradually gets thicker and ultimately to hard to apply on, this would be the best time to get a new one 8)
Creasing, Fading, and Staying Power?
I’ve tried this eyeshadow primer on a few different people including myself, each one having different kinds of lid types, and different outcome on each one when using the Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion.
- If your have dry type of lids, this Primer Potion well work good for you, but it does not help moisturize the lids. If your lids are kinda flaky, the Primer Potion will help a little bit by giving you a smoother outcome of your eyeshadows, than without. Overall this primer should definitely help your shadows last long and keep it from creasing or fading with in a 20 hour span.
- If you have normal type lids, this Primer Potion is perfect for you, your shadows will last for a very long time, and there is no creasing or fading.
- If you have slightly oily lids, this Primer Potion, will be fairly good for you. It should make your shadows last with slight fading and creasing with in 12 hours.
- If you have extremely oily lids, this Primer Potion, I don’t recommend for you. Your shadows will crease terribly, and faded with in an hour of wear.
Other?
Most people who have the Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion don’t know they can use it other than an eyeshadow primer. You can use it as a lipstick primer; I know Urban Decay has one primer that is specifically for priming your lips, but it’s pretty much the same thing. You can also use Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion for a base for you concealer to make it last longer and give you a fuller coverage, this technique is especially great for the under eyes.
Bottom Line …
Overall this is a fantastic product unless you have really oily lids. The price might seem a little on the expensive side, but this product should last you at least 4 months, and that’s if you use it everyday. Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion can also be used as a primer for your lipstick and concealer. Urban Decay in addition has different types of Primers, one that’s matte, another that is a champagne shimmery color, and one coming out soon which I believe it to be a gold shimmery color.
So all around Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion is a good buy, I highly recommend.
If you’re a little hesitant on buying this, because of the packaging, get the new squeeze tube, UD has for the Primer Potion, it costs more, but you get a lot of product.

Color Description & Swatches: Nude (pretty much dries invisibly)

CURRENT MUSIC OBSESSION: Firework - Katy Perry…
Before I get on with showing you the video(s) of my current music obsession … Yes, the song Firework is by Katy Perry, but I find I like Boyce Avenue and Kina Grannis version better. Now I’m not downing the song being by Katy Perry, I mean I love it; I just love it better when Boyce Avenue and Kina Grannis does it.
